Professional Remodeler and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) are cosponsors of the remodel, which is being designed and produced by Phil Kean Design Group (PKDG), Winter Park, Fla. It’s the first remodeled house since 2007 to be showcased at IBS.

In August the crew began to set the tile in all the bathrooms and on the pool deck. Large-format, nonslip, marble-look tiles from Daltile went into the master bathroom and secondary baths. The variety of wall tile ranges from a herringbone pattern in the master bathroom to basketweave in the powder room, and rectangulars and mosaics in other baths.

PKDG began installation of deluxe solid maple cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen. Templates were made for the granite pieces that will be used for kitchen counter tops and the fireplace surround.

To keep the project moving while awaiting delivery of the floor tile, PKDG elevated the kitchen cabinets on permanent, PVC shim stock with an anti-fracture underlayment. This enabled the crew to move forward with counter tops plus installation of plumbing fixtures and electrical trim. When the flooring goes down it will not run under the cabinets. Toe kicks will conceal the edge of the cut tile. Areas under appliances will be fully tiled.

Out front, PKDG prepared the surface for the new circular driveway and installed gutters and under-drains.
